18 Months Old......Officially a Toddler

Time really is marked when you have a child. A year and a half passes in the blink of an eye. It has truly been amazing watching him grow up and learn new things. And I've been lucky enough to watch it all day, every day. I never thought I'd make it at a stay at home mom, but it looks like we've both survived and even had some fun along the way.

He's about the sweetest little boy you'll meet. Of course, I'm partial. He's started giving the best hugs. He's extremely laid back. It seems to me that he is saying "Whatever" with his eyes sometimes. Especially when I'm introducing him to something that I think he's going to love like the pool, playground, or ice cream. But, then he'll get so excited about the smallest things like the sprinkler or throwing the toy for Wrigley.

A snapshot of this 18 month old:

  • He loves cars, trucks, and trains. But, he calls them all cars.

  • His favorite show is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and loves to watch it while sitting on Wrigley's bed that is on top of our bed.

  • There are only three words in his vocabulary: light, car, and Wrigley. There is lots of gibberish being spoken. I just know he is saying something, I'm just not enlightened enough to understand it yet.

  • He has gotten a few more signs down. More, please, milk, and sometimes thank you. Please is my favorite and the worst one all at the same time. He signs please and then points to what he wants. It's basically turned in to "I Want That." But, it prevents a lot of whining, which is great!

  • He has a fascination with lights, fans, and anything hanging from the ceiling. And he will go to any adult in the room that will pick him up and get him close to one. Strangers or friends, anyone that is taller than him will be his best friend if they will help him.

  • Going outside can always make him happy. He loves to just wander around. When we go to the park, he bypasses the playground equipment and goes straight for the trees and bushes.

  • About the only thing you can always count on him eating is his eggs in the morning. Anything else is a crap shoot. One day he'll love something and the next he throws it on the floor.

  • In the morning of his 18 month birthday, sporting the bedhead.

Playing with Daddy and his truck.

This is his Mickey Mouse watching spot, on Wrigley's bed on our bed.
When we first gave him this popper for his first birthday, he couldn't figure it out. Now he has learned how to work it and taunt Wrigley with it.

Some entertainment knows no expiration date. Playing in the sprinklers never goes out of style! I remember playing in the sprinkler growing up. However, on our home videos you hear my shrieking and whining every time the water touched my face. I'm glad that Jude doesn't take after me in that respect!

    Where's Jude?

He's been working on this trick for a while. It took me a few times and several whines before I figured out what he was trying to do. He wanted in the cabinet. He got the problem solved without my help. I guess now if I can't find him, I have a new place to look.
